About Wondria
What is Wondria?
Wondria is a learning environment for children aged 7 to 12, set up and run by a parent. Children use Spark, the learning tool inside Wondria, to ask questions, get help with homework, explore topics, build projects and make up stories. Spark helps them think things through instead of handing over answers. Parents set the rules.
Who is Wondria for?
Children aged 7 to 12 in the UK. Wondria is for children under 13 only. A parent creates the account and each child’s profile (up to three children). Children don’t need an email address.
What can my child do with Spark?
Ask questions about anything they’re curious about, get help with maths, science, English and general knowledge, explore eight topic areas, keep small projects, take quick quizzes and make up stories together. They can type, or hold a button and talk. Spark answers in short, age-appropriate replies.
Will Spark do my child’s homework for them?
No. On homework and problems, Spark asks a question first and gives hints before answers. It shows a full worked solution only after your child has really had a go, and it never writes a whole essay or completes a worksheet. You can see how often your child tried first.
Is Spark a friend or a character?
No. Spark is a learning tool. It has a picture, but it doesn’t have feelings or opinions, doesn’t pretend to be a friend, never asks a child to keep secrets, and points children to the grown-ups in their lives.
What devices does it work on?
Phones, tablets and computers, in the web browser. There’s nothing to install.
Safety
How does Wondria keep my child safe?
Every message your child sends is checked before Spark answers, and every reply is checked again before your child sees it. If a check fails or doesn’t finish in time, your child gets a short, safe message instead of the reply. When Spark looks something up, it uses only sites our staff have checked and approved; there’s no open web browsing. You decide whether it can look things up at all.
What happens if my child says something worrying?
Spark stops, gives a careful, fixed response and encourages your child to talk to a trusted adult. A trained member of our safeguarding staff is alerted. They may read that conversation, and must record why. If they’re concerned, they may contact you, or, where a child may be at risk, the police or children’s social care. Wondria isn’t an emergency service, and staff don’t watch conversations as they happen.
Can my child talk to other people on Wondria?
No. There’s no chat between users, no public profiles and no social features. Children only use Spark.
Are there adverts or in-app purchases?
No adverts, no in-app purchases and no third-party tracking on any page a child uses.
For parents
What can I see?
You can see:
- Spark time, day by day for the last thirteen weeks, and the time of day it's used
- The topics your child explores, and how many questions on each
- Your child's projects: title, goal and progress
- Extra time your child asked for, whether it was given, and learning activities finished
- Learning signals, week by week: concepts practised, hints needed, how often your child tried first and how much help Spark gave
You can’t see your child’s conversations with Spark. Your child is shown the same list.
Why can’t I read my child’s conversations?
Children learn best when they can ask anything without feeling watched. You see how your child is using Spark and how they’re learning, and your child is told exactly what you can and can’t see, so nothing is hidden from either of you.
What can I control?
How long your child can use Spark each day and their bedtime, how much help Spark gives with homework, web access, voice, how long conversations are kept, learning memory and a weekly summary email. You can pause Spark at any time and approve or decline requests for extra time. Rules are checked by Wondria on every request, not on the device.
What happens when my child’s time runs out?
Your child sees a warning at 15 minutes and at 5 minutes. When time is up, they can stop, ask you for more time, or, once a day if you allow it, finish a short learning activity to earn a little extra.
Privacy and data
What do you keep, and for how long?
Conversations are kept for 7, 30 or 90 days, as you choose (30 by default), and then deleted. Spark remembers only a short list about your child: first name, age group, interests, current projects, what they’ve practised and how they like things explained. You can turn that memory off. Voice recordings are not kept. Our privacy notice lists everything.
Do you use my child’s data to train AI?
No. We don’t sell data, show adverts or use what a child writes to train AI models, and our contracts don’t allow our providers to either.
Where is my child’s data processed?
Our AI models and voice-to-text run on Amazon Web Services in the United Kingdom (London). The privacy notice lists every provider we use.
Can I delete my child’s data?
Yes, at any time, from the Privacy page in your parent area. It removes your child’s conversations, photos, profile, projects and learning records. A few records must be kept by law or for safety, and the privacy notice explains which.
Plans and early access
How much does Wondria cost?
Two plans. One child: £11.99 a month (£9.99 before VAT). Family, for up to three children: £21.59 a month (£17.99 before VAT). Paying yearly gets two months free. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel at any time in the app.
What is early access?
Wondria is opening to families in stages. Join the early-access list and we’ll email you when your place is ready. Early-access families get a 15-day free trial instead of the usual 7.
How do I get in touch?
Email info@wondria.ai. If you’re a child, please ask a grown-up to write to us for you.
